Arrival & Departure
Checklist on Arrival
… what you'll need to do if there has been a gap between your visit and previous guests.
- Electricity: Press button on fusebox in the kitchen.
- Water: If the mains water is off, turn on (see the checklist on leaving for instructions)
- Gas: Calor Gas bottle in the cupboard adjacent to the cooker. Turn the valve to on.
- Boiler: There is a switch on the front to turn on-off for hot water/heating. When only hot water is needed during warmer weather, switch the little knob right to tap image (fine to keep permanently on during your stay). Otherwise, please do not fiddle with other settings which are pre-set to optimum efficiency. In emergencies our plumber is Dominque Gesrel (Pascal's brother). Telephone number on boiler. Don't dry clothes in the boiler room as this is a potential safety hazard.
- Shutters: Windows and doors may be shuttered on arrival. Door shutters lift off for extra light and should be stored inside when not in use. Window shutters open externally and should always be hinged back and locked in position by levers. If you want total darkness, (or your children to sleep longer in the mornings!) remember to close the shutters at night.
Checklist on Leaving
We would very much appreciate it if you would leave the house as you would wish to find it. We don't have cleaners so it is up to guests to leave the house clean and tidy.
- Food: Do not leave any food out, even in packets otherwise we'll get monster mice at harvest time
- Fridge: Absolutely NOTHING should be left in the fridge (unless you know for sure that other guests are due to arrive immediately after you) when you leave. Otherwise, clean, empty and leave door slightly ajar. Turn off at mains.
- Boiler: If you have had the heating and/or hot water on, please turn off.
- Fireplace: If you've had fires during your stay, please make sure the ashes are completely cold before cleaning and emptying the fireplace. There's a garden refuse area behind the external boiler for ashes. Do not empty hot ashes into the wheelie bin outside as it will burn the plastic.
- Shutters: Replace and/or close and fix closed internally and externally to prevent potential damage by winds.
- Electricity: Press red switch on kitchen fuse box to cut power
- Visitors Book: By telephone - please sign!
- Keys: Please DON'T FORGET to leave these where you found them. In the event of an emergency, a spare set of keys is available from Lucy (tel: 02 96 50 43 76 or [French] mobile 06 66 99 25 52)
- Water: Turn off at mains stopcock, under drain cover in front of hedge - left-hand side of white gate viewed from front door.
- Sheds & Garden: Return chairs, bikes, bats & balls to wherever you got them from. Check that lockable sheds are locked.
- Gates: Finally, close front gates.
