Park Amorique (2 hours inland) is a fabulous forest area to the south-west. Roman fort (Asterix and King Arthur fame). Great for walking, camping. Occasional 2 CV races on the lake.

The "Enchanted Forest", Huelguat
The Granite Rose coast (a long day trip) which includes Île-de-Bréhat with twice daily boat trips in high season for puffin and cormorant spotting.
Île-de-Bréhat is an island with a microclimate, near Paimpol, a mile off the northern coast of Bretagne. Take a picnic as the island's restaurants and bars are expensive.
For those with children Cobac Amusement Park: Lanhélin, Brittany 35720 France. Tel: 02 99 73 80 16 highly recommended. A wide range of activities including carousel, rowing boats, mini choo choo, bouncy inflatables (for adults and children alike!). Remember to take swimming costumes and towels as there is a swimming pool as well as a shallow padding pool for smaller children. Shaded picnic area.
The South Brittany coast is famous for its Menhirs (big standing stones) at Carnac. Approximately 2-2. hours drive but almost certainly better for a few days' visiting.
The Peace Museum (2.5 hours drive) near Caen (large white modern building on hill). Well worth allowing time for a visit to or from the Ferry.
Mont St Michel (1 - 1.5 hr drive) everybody knows about this "wonder of the world"! Be sure to get there early to avoid the crowds. The coastal route takes longer but is more interesting.
Kerdalo (near Tregier and newly opened to the public) Beautiful gardens owned by Vix's French cousins, the Wolkonskys. Created in 1965 by Prince Peter Wolkonsky and now overseen by his daughter, Isabelle who trained at RHS Wisley. Head West for approx 1.5 hours. Address 22220, Tredarzec, France
Josselin (1 hour) Great chateau and little choo choo. Head south en route to Carnac.
Mur de Bretagne (Guerledan) is an inland lake with walks. Be cautious as there are hungry wild boar roaming the forest or pedaloes, crazy golf, etc.
